Star aniseed is a highly versatile, star shaped spice used primarily for culinary flavouring, medicinal purposes, and manufacturing fragrances. While it contains small seeds, both the woody outer pod and the internal seeds are ground up or steeped together because the pod holds the highest concentration of its signature, liquorice like flavour.
